Blog Post #11 Non Computer Based Technology in the Classroom

I think Leap Frogs are wonderful non computer based technology for the classroom. Some students have them at home but for many they are a new experience. Leap Frogs read the story to students, help with the sounding out of words, and many other things that really help students advance in their reading skills without the direct help of a teacher. They also have fun stories that the students like and really want to read. I have seen Leap Frogs used in schools and the students using them have a blast reading and sounding out the words to the story.

Well after hearing most of the presentations, I feel like I have just had a lot of information thrown at me! So many new ideas and topics that I never thought of and now I know enough about to implement them into my future classroom. The Internet and technology is such a huge thing now a days in education, and it has to be used the right way otherwise people could get in trouble. Students have to realize these things and respect the rules and the equipment. Technology is expensive and not every school district is going to have the same things. Some are more privileged that others and some do not have enough of anything.
