Blog Post #11 Non Computer Based Technology in the Classroom
I think Leap Frogs are wonderful non computer based technology for the classroom. Some students have them at home but for many they are a new experience. Leap Frogs read the story to students, help with the sounding out of words, and many other things that really help students advance in their reading skills without the direct help of a teacher. They also have fun stories that the students like and really want to read. I have seen Leap Frogs used in schools and the students using them have a blast reading and sounding out the words to the story.

I completely agree with you! I absolutely love leap frogs! They keep children motivated and interested in reading. A lot of children do not like to read and I think leap frogs help with loving reading. It is great for the students to have the one-on-one direction without a teacher being with them.
I also think that leap frogs are a great form of technology for the classroom. I have never really used one, but when I have seen them in the store or on the television they seem like a lot of fun. I know they are very education, especially if you can get them to enjoy reading while improving their ability. They are also not too pricey for the school systems to buy for some of the classrooms.
Another student in the class touched base with Leap Frogs briefly, but thank you for giving a little more in depth explanation. I feel as if I know more about it and would be able to identify what Leap Frogs is exactly. This non-computer based techology seems like it would be very useful in the classroom, especially for students that may be struggling with reading. It also provides students with a fun way of reading and particularly if it is an interesting story as well. I definitely think Leap Frogs is a tool that I would love to have present in my classroom!
I have never had the chance to work with Leap Frogs. I was not really sure what exactly they were for. Thank you for describing it! These seem like a great way to help struggling readers in the classroom. It could be available to the students, so maybe when they are finished with their work, they can go play with the Leap Frog.
